Il-Ħadd Gewwa l-Argotti - Pascale Abdila
I’ve illustrated a small garden called Argotti, in Floriana. Known for its rich collection of large trees, herbal shrubs and succulents, is still in full bloom as it has been since I was a kid. I illustrated l-Argotti to create more awareness about these historical public gardens which are often being replaced by concrete buildings. These green spaces are a cornerstone of the local community, a shared space for people to gather together. Thankfully, there are those doing their best to preserve some of these gardens such as Argotti, which has recently been restored and looked after. My intention is to raise awareness that more places like Argotti still exist, so they can enjoy and protect them to last longer. But who will be there to protect these places if no one knows about them?
